FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about buying and selling cars in India.

What is BharatKaar.com?

BharatKaar.com is an online marketplace for buying and selling new and used cars, bikes, commercial vehicles and spare parts across India. Prices are in Indian Rupees (₹) and buyers contact sellers directly by in-app chat, WhatsApp or phone.

Is BharatKaar.com free?

Yes. Browsing listings and posting an ad on BharatKaar.com are free. BharatKaar.com takes no commission on sales and is not a party to the deal between buyer and seller.

How do I sell my car fast in India?

Post a free listing on BharatKaar.com with clear photos from every angle, a realistic price in ₹ and full details — year, km driven, fuel, number of owners, city and service history. Keep the RC, insurance and PUC ready and reply quickly to buyers via chat, WhatsApp or phone.

How is the RC transferred when I buy a used car?

The Registration Certificate (RC) must be transferred to the buyer at the RTO. Buyer and seller sign Form 29 (notice of transfer) and Form 30 (application for transfer); the buyer submits them to the RTO — or online on the Parivahan/VAHAN portal — with the original RC, valid insurance, a valid PUC certificate, address and ID proof and the fee. Do it quickly: the Motor Vehicles Act sets short deadlines, and until the transfer the seller stays legally liable for the car.

What happens to the car insurance?

Insurance does not move to the new owner automatically. Ask the insurer to transfer the policy to your name within 14 days of the RC transfer (the No Claim Bonus stays with the seller), or buy a new policy. Never drive a car without at least valid third-party insurance.

I am buying a car registered in another state. What do I need?

The seller needs a No Objection Certificate (NOC, Form 28) from the original RTO. You then re-register the car at your local RTO and pay road tax in your state; the seller may claim a road-tax refund from the old state. Check the NOC is genuine before you pay.

The car has a loan on it (hypothecation). Can I still buy it?

Yes, but only after the loan is closed. If the RC says “hypothecated to” a bank, the seller must repay the loan, get the bank’s NOC and Form 35, and have the hypothecation removed at the RTO. Only then can the RC be transferred to you.

What should I check when buying a CNG car?

Make sure the CNG kit is endorsed on the RC (company-fitted or an RTO-approved retrofit), the cylinder has a valid hydro-test certificate, and the PUC is valid. An unendorsed kit can cause insurance claims to be rejected.

Which documents should I check before paying?

Original RC (chassis and engine numbers must match the car), valid insurance, PUC certificate, service history, the seller’s ID, and where applicable the NOC for inter-state cars and Form 35 for loan-free cars. You can also verify RC details on the Parivahan (mParivahan) app and check for pending challans.

How do I avoid scams when buying a car?

Never pay a token amount or any advance before you have seen the car in person. Be careful with sellers who say they are “posted elsewhere” and will send the car after payment, and with prices far below the market. Meet in a busy public place, check the documents, take a test drive and bring a mechanic. Report suspicious listings to BharatKaar.com.

Can I buy a car on EMI?

Yes. Banks and NBFCs offer new and used car loans. BharatKaar.com shows an indicative EMI on listings (calculated at 9.5% p.a. for 60 months with 20% down payment) so you can plan your budget; the actual rate and eligibility are decided by your lender.

Where can I find a mechanic or car inspection?

Visit https://www.bharatkaar.com/info/experts to arrange an independent inspection before you buy, or take a mechanic you trust to check the engine, gearbox, bodywork and papers.

Can I buy spare parts on BharatKaar.com?

Yes. BharatKaar.com has a Spare parts category for car and bike parts, and you contact the seller directly from the listing.

Which cities does BharatKaar.com cover?

BharatKaar.com covers all 28 states and 8 union territories of India, including Delhi NCR (New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida), Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kochi.

How do I contact a seller?

Open the listing and use the in-app chat (“Send message”), the WhatsApp button or the call button if the seller added a phone number. Keep payment and personal details private until you have seen the car.

What does the “Verified” badge mean?

It means the listing has been reviewed by the BharatKaar.com moderation team to ensure reliability.

Why is my listing not visible right away?

Every new listing on BharatKaar.com goes through a short review before publishing, usually within a few hours.

How do I edit or delete my listing?
